A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE PORTER'S CHAPEL ACADEMY LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Porter's Chapel Academy Lady Eagles Basketball Team finished the 1998-1999 season with an outstanding record of 36 wins and only 3 losses; and

WHEREAS, throughout the Lady Eagles' season, they won several tournaments, including the PCA Halloween Classic Tournament, the Central Hinds Cougar Classic Tournament, the Conference Tournament, the District 4A Tournament and the Central State Tournament, and placed as runner-up in the State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have been superbly coached and inspired by Coach Debbie Carr, who has broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon the players, including: the selection of Heather Carr to the All-Conference Tournament Team and Most Valuable Player, the All-Star Team, the All-Central State, the All-Tournament Team and the All-State Team; the naming of Ayla Williams to the All-Conference Team; the selection of E.J. Willis to the All-Conference Tournament Team, the All-Central State, the All-Tournament Team the All-State Team and the MPSA Best Offensive Player; and the naming of K.K. Willis to the All-Conference Tournament Team, the All-Central State, the All-Tournament Team, the All-State Team; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Porter's Chapel Academy; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Porter's Chapel Academy Lady Eagles Basketball Team and Coach Debbie Carr for their outstanding 1998-1999 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished Porter's Chapel Academy, Coach Debbie Carr and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
